Ted Alkier's Speedster

#429 belongs to Ted Alkier of Greenacres, WA. It is a well built car with a high quality of worksmanship. The hood is 5 inches longer than stock and has become a stock item at Rootlieb Sheet Metal Products in Turlock, California.
The engine in Ted's speedster has a Winfield head made by Specialty Ford Parts of Rosemead, CA. A Stromberg 97 sits atop an Ansen intake manifold. The headers are from AC&R of Redding, CA. They are a split design which has cylinders 1 & 4 going into one collector and 2 & 3 going into another. The exhaust note is definitely different than the standard Model A but is very pleasing. You will see in the rear views of the car the dual exhaust pipes that are made possible with this kind of header.

The rear of #429 is made from two hoods off a 1937 Willys automobile.
Here's Ted and and his wife Jacqueline running one of the numerous dirt roads that were part of the Northwest Vintage Speedsters Devil's Oven 200 endurance run in Prineville, OR on Memorial Day weekend in 1999. This was the inagural run for the car.
The car is a little dirty after the day's run. Mark Echerich is seeing how his fellow club member has done on his first outing with the new speedster.
