Puget Sound Area Activities

Western Washington Speedster Fans (and friends) -

Following are several speedster and/or speedster friendly activities.  Some require that you pre-register.  Italicized events are primarily for speedsters, others are from the Puget Sound Model T Club and may be a slower pace than you prefer.

May Breakfast Tour – May 1st Sea-Tac HCCA kick-off tour. Meet at the Puyallup Elks Club,
314 27th St NE, Puyallup, for breakfast at 9:00 ($12.50 at the door). Tour leaves at 10:15 with a stop at the residence of Gerry Greenfield to see his collection. Several clubs invited. No signup required.

Camano Island A’s run to Chelan – May 6-8 Cross the mountains to the dry side.
Hosted by the Camano Island Model A group with speedsters invited. Larry Fickeisen is the

Fun at the Farm Day – May 21 at Borton’s Fish Creek Farm 19410 8th Ave NW, Arlington 98223. (360) 652-6517 or horses@fishcreekfarm.com. Model T games, Driving lessons?, Safety checks?, mini-tour?, Potluck BBQ. Dick & Bev Borton hosting.

Big Foot Tour – June 4 & 5. Tour northern Olympic Peninsula and drive up Hurricane Ridge. Joint tour with the Carbon Canyon and Kitsap T clubs. Hosted by Morris James and Bob Loid who lead the tour last year. More info available from Walt.

4 Banger 400 – June 10-12. Tour out of McCall, ID. Hosted by the Treasure Valley Model
A Club with speedsters invited. Be prepared to tour at 50 MPH. Contact Walt at

Brookdale Retirement Home – June 18. T club annual car show and lunch at the Brookdale Retirement Home in Lynnwood. Some of us provide rides for interested residents but that’s optional. Our target is to provide at least 10 cars, contact Dick Borton (360) 652-6517 or horses@fishcreekfarm.com if you can attend.

Montana 500 – June 19- 23. Road race of stock Model T’s based out of Dillon, MT this year. A few of us speedster folks will be going along (but staying out of the way) in the “‘touring class”.  Sign-up required, most likely none of us have a car that is pure enough to meet their rules.  Contact Walt for further info.

Flashy Chassis – July 1-3 AKA the “Crankers Tour” will be out of Spokane, WA this year. This tour accepts cars over 30 years of age with a great variety of cars from the teens up to the 70’s. Registration is required. This event will be duplicated in September for the Can-Am tour which is restricted to Model T’s. Contact Walt for the sign-up forms.

Larrabee State Park Tour – July 9. This is a 100 mile tour that begins at the Borton farm, goes to Larrabee State Park near Bellingham, WA and returns. We will have a pot luck lunch at the park. There will be several rest stops on the way to & from the park. This is an easy tour with no major hills. All cars are welcome, and extra seats will be available for those without a car. Hosted by Bortons.

Don Babbitt Memorial Hot 100 – Don Babbitt Memorial Run – July 17th, Washougal, WA area. Some more details coming.

Ryan Ramble – July 21-24 Packwood, Mt Rainier, Mt St Helens. Hosted by the Ryan family of the Northern California Region, HCCA. Mix of cars from early teens to late 30s, most in teens or 20’s. Hosted out of Packwood with tours to Mt Rainier and Mt Helens. Pre-Registration required, contact Walt for forms & info.

Lynden Tractor Show – August 4. Tractor and farm equipment show and demonstrations, Lynden, WA. Folks could meet at Darrell Pitts’ place near Bellingham for trailer parking; we would take a short tour on the way to the tractor show grounds and would park our cars in the show area. Fair food is the menu of the day. Jerry Wrolstad will lead. Reichlin Mount Baker Run – August 6. Gather at Art Reichlin’s home, 16680 Dunbar
Rd in Mount Vernon. Tour up to Sumas area for Brunch, then up to Artist Point or as far as the road is open on Mount Baker. Coming back down we typically have dinner near Sedro Woolley. All meals on your own nickel, tour lead by Charles Reichlin  charlesreichlin@gmail.com or (360) 770-4955. Mainly speedsters with a few others. There’s a possibility of a follow on Brunch tour on Sunday the 7th.

Mountain Loop Tour – August 20. A 100 mile tour starting from Borton’s farm going past Oso slide area and on to Darrington. From Darrington we will take the Mt. Loop Highway to Hwy 92, stopping at the Big Four Camp Ground for a pot luck lunch. Then stop in Granite Falls at the museum and back to the farm. Hosted by Bortons.

Larry Garner Memorial Car Show – August 27 Sunrise View Retirement in Everett.

Evergreen 2016 – Labor Day 200 Mile Speedster Run – September 3&4. The 34th Annual NWVS Speedster Endurance Run. Headquartered in Chehalis, WA this year. Contact Walt for forms.

“Panhandle Scramble” – September 11-14. 19th Annual Skagit Snohomish HCCA Regional Tour. Coeur d’Alene, ID. Pre ’16 cars only and Pre-Registration required. Contact Elaine or Dave Ellis, efedbe@comcast.net or (360) 403-3298.

Can-Am – September 15-17. The 38th Annual Can-Am tour is hosted by the Spokane Model T club this year in – you guessed it – Spokane this year. Model T’s only with T speedsters OK. Pre-Registration is required. Contact Walt for forms.
For all tours – please contact the host if you plan to attend. Some activities require a sign-up (noted above) but in all cases the hosts like to know who will be coming for planning purposes.
