Thank you Beryl Brown for Report & Photos

What an adventure we had, so to start this tale of joy, the first very important item on the list is to thank Art & Helen Reichlin car #280 & Frank & Alice Reichlin Car # 440 for a well planned fun Tour. They did an outstanding job.

Day one, Friday: July 18th (approx. 150 miles)
We started out from the Travelodge in Centralia by the lake, and headed west on Hwy 6. Traveling through fantastic farmland, going down roads some of us had never been on before. The look of the glimmering sunshine sparkling against the landscape was breathtaking. Waving at all who ran to their doors to see this marvelous site of colorful vintage speedsters going by their doorsteps. We traveled west through Menlo, Willapa & Raymond, along the Willapa River & the Willapa Bay. We continued weaving our way down the country roads and through a little rain squall Oust to remind us that we were in the Pacific North West) to Tokeland, Washington where we stopped and viewed the ocean, and the sunshine!!! as well as taking time for some great photos. After all the 'ooohs'and'ahhhs'we double backed down to South Bend for a great lunch at Boondock's Restaurant where we got to ogle over Mickey Rooney who was having lunch there too! The atmosphere of restaurant overlooking the ocean was inviting and the food matched the view.

Onward for a great photo op at the Galvin Gas Station built for these vehicles & cameras. As the first days Tour ended we got together for some fun conversation and refreshments by the lake, and talked about our I st Days Tour.

Day 2, Saturday: July 19th (approx. 150 miles)
We left the Motel at 8:00 a.m. and headed South to the Rib Eye Restaurant traveling on side roads along side of,15 to have breakfast together (great buffet). With full tummies we headed east through the glorious country side, via Kirkland Rd, on to Forrest Napavine Rd, then on to Jackson to the town of Toledo. Continuing east on 505 to Mt. St. Helens. Rene & Michael #831 had some problems so we pulled over and unloaded the spare car #380 and loaded #831 on to the trouble trailer and off we went again. Onward & upward to Mt. St. Helens we stopped at the Forest Learning Center as well as Coldwater Ridge to view the awesome destruction Mt. St. Helens left in her wake. It was overwhelming to see the mass of land that was covered by the Volcano, almost too much to take in the reality of the whole thing.

Traveling the roads up and down the mountain was a sightseer's delight, and speaking for both Roger and myself, we were in awe of the way the V4itage cars took to the high terrain; it was very impressive to say the least. Then we returned to the motel the group spent some quality time visiting by the lake and enjoyed some refreshments. Later we went to the King Salomon Restaurant for dinner in their banquet room.

Day 3 Sunday July 20th (approx. 200 miles)
We gathered again at 8:00 -a.m. and headed along the same path to the Rib Eye for some more of that great Breakfast Buffet & then off to the top of Mt. Rainier and all its glory.

We traveled down Kirkland Rd, Forrest Napavine, Jackson Rd, then on to Hwy 12 to the town of Morton. Then on to Hwy 7 and 706, and up into Mt. Rainier National Park. We stopped at the Tourist center where we parked in front of the Transportation Exhibit and became part of the tourist attraction for awhile, being surrounded with tourists all in awe of these magnificent vehicles. Then it was on to Paradise where we traveled straight through, (no empty parking spaces on Sunday in Paradise) so we kept right on traveling, taking time along the way for photo ops of the mountain peak.

The true value of a trouble car was appreciated as Joanne & Ed Jepperson's car #98 had some problems so on to the trailer #98 went. Then as we were heading back through Morton, there sitting, on the side of the road was car # II 3 with a big sign on the back saying "BROKE" & Charles & Tammy Reichlin sat, resting in the shade under a big ol tree. So thanks to the trouble car and Barbara & Frank Baker with their Van, there were enough spots for everyone to ride back home including room for both cars on the trailer.

That evening we all got together for dinner at King Solomorfs Restaurant to celebrate two birthdays with a treat of two large Cakes. Happy Birthday was sung twice, once to Alice Reichlin and again to Royal Little who had several family members join us to celebrate his birthday. They joined in adding some great entertainment with some wise ol Irish Proverbs! The tour ended for many of us that evening after traveling approx. 500 miles over the 3 days.

Day 4 Monday July 21
Monday was more of a come as you are & see what you want Day, with 5 remaining cars. Breakfast was at Country Cousins, just north of the motel, you know the one that has a Rooster crow as you walk in the front door, a great wake up... After breakfast every one chose by-passing the Outlet stores in favor of the open air and country roads (Yes the ladies elected to go for the drive over shopping). We drove through Tenino, circled Lawrence Lake to McKenna & Yelm and on to many side roads along the way. On the return run we stopped in Tenino for a break and then on to Rochester, returning to the Motel about 3:00 covering a total of 122 miles for the day, so all in all when you add up the 4 day total the tour was approx. 625 miles.
