Design Constraints

 These things should be obvious

0. The Body Needs to fit the Chassis Measure Many Times.  See Measuring Page
1. Simplicity is important Use as few control points or curves as possible to get the shape.  See Overview Page
2. Strips Limit the Shape Strip built bodies have to follow these rules :
      A strip cannot lengthwise bend tighter than a 30" radius
      A strip cannot lengthwise bend to side tighter than 10' radius
      A strip cannot lengthwise twist more than 90 degrees in 3'
      Strips cannot curve edgewise tighter than a 6" radius
      Strips have a constant wdth.  I used 7/8"
      Strips have a constant thickness. I used 1/4"
3. Strips Limit Radiator Choices The tightest curve on the radiator shell must exceed the 6" radius that strips can curve edgewise
4. Strips Control the Look Strips run lengthwise.. Back<--->Front
The lengthwise lines created by the strips is a powerful design element
5. Strips need Curves for Strength The Flatter the panels are, the Weaker they are.  Curvature and shape dramatically increases Strength. 
6. Design the Inside  When the design is finished it is used to create the mold sections that the strips will be bent around. It is much simpler if you design to the Inside.  If you design to the outside, you have many more opportunities to make mistakes. The body is of uniform thickness, if it looks good on the inside surface, it will look just as good on the outside surface about .3" away.  If the frame sticks through the inside its just as big a problem as it sticking through the outside.
